Introduction
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Student Hostel provides 98 accommodation places for students in need from our school and the Hong Kong Red Cross Margaret Trench School. Among these, 78 residential places are for 7-day boarder and 20 are for 5-day boarder. Students whose families are difficult to provide care, who have an unsuitable home environment, who live far from school, or who have severe physical disabilities can apply for the residential care places through the school social worker.
In addition to providing residential care services, the hostel offers personal self-care training, homework tutoring, emotional counseling, developmental groups, and recreational activities for boarders, working together with the school and parents to foster students' personal growth. Our boarding section also collaborates with the school's interdisciplinary team to inspire residents' potential through various training and activities, preparing them for future participation in or contribution to the society.

Service goals
The dormitory provides regular residential life training and diversified activities to achieve the following goals:
Service quota
The boarding section provides 98 residential places (including 78 places for 7-day boarders and 20 for 5-day boarders). There are 58 places for boys and 40 places for girls
Service type
Accommodation services are mainly divided into two types: 5-day and 7-day boarding services
• 7-day boarding service: 7-day boarder who can stay in the dormitory for seven days a week.
• 5-day boarding service : 5-day boarder only stay in the dormitory from Monday to Thursday and go home for vacation on Friday every week.
Short-term boarding service
• If the students in our school have urgent accommodation needs, they can apply for short-term boarding services in our boarding section for their children.
• Quota: 2 places
• Parents/carers in need can apply to the school social worker at least seven days in advance.
• After the application is accepted, you must fill in the application form and provide the student's physical examination report /medical records, etc., and sign the service consent form before the accommodation can be arranged.
• The accommodation period for each application cannot exceed 14 days. If you have special difficulties, please discuss with the school social worker
Accommodation and accommodation fees
• Fees are charged according to the regulations of the Education Bureau. If you have financial difficulties, you can apply to the school social worker for dormitory fee reduction.

• Registered nurses are on shift duty and provide 24-hours nursing care by on call duty.
• Conduct regular physical health examinations for boarder, monitor their physical condition, and arrange our boarders to participate in appropriate health plans, such as dental examinations, vaccinations, etc.
• Provide medical care seminars for family members, residents and staff
• Collaborate with United Christian Hospital - Community Support Service for Children with Complex Medical Conditions to provide professional medical advice and follow-up to boarders
• When necessary, nurses or houseparent will escort boarders to medical treatment
• Infection prevention, environmental inspections, and ensuring a healthy living environment
• Review the menu to maintain good nutritional quality
3. Homework guidance
• In addition to daily homework arrangements, volunteers are also arranged to provide individual homework tutoring to boarders.
4. Self-care training
• Collaborate with the inter-professional team to arrange various trainings for boarder in dormitory procedures, and individual reward programs are promoted in order to enhance the initiative of the boarders and strengthen their self-care abilities
• The dormitory will also integrate the Conductive Education(CE) and Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication handicapped Children(TEACCH) approach into the dormitory daily living procedure for the boarders, which creating a synergistic effect and improving the self-management ability of the boarders.
5. Growth and personal emotional counseling services

7. Parent work
• The dormitory holds Dormitory Care Group meetings regularly, inviting parents to attend for exchanges and collecting parents’ opinions, so as to continuously improve the quality of dormitory services.
• Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Association Wong Tai Sin Wellness Support Center - a dedicated team to support special school graduates and caregivers, provide care and relationship skills training for boarders and their parents, arrange post-school care plans and bridge up with community support services
