Sharing of Research Knowledge by the Research Subcommittee

 

A sharing of research knowledge on the topic of “The Effect of using Drama on Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy of Hong Kong Female Adolescents” (A research project being conducted to fulfil the requirements for the Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology of HKU on 30 Jun 2011).

Details of the study:

To investigate the effects of using drama on enhancing self-esteem and self-efficacy of HK Female adolescents.

Literature review:

Drama is a kind of expressive art which is used to express and to release the self. Self-esteem refers to personal efficacy and personal worth. Self-efficacy refers to the ability to complete a task.

Method:

Drama program (intervention group) & English program (control group)

Sampling:

Convenience sampling

Measurement:

  1. Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Chinese Version
  2. Schwarzer General Self-Efficacy Scale Chinese Version
  3. Pretest open question& Posttest open question (Qualitative)

Data analysis:

  1. Spearman rank correlation coefficient
  2. Mann-Whitney U test
  3. Wilcoxon Signed-ranks test
  4. Qualitative data analysis
